Alternative LVM systems

• IBM's EVMS

  • Enterprise Volume Management System on AIX
    • extremely modular (all levels are components)
      • supports encryption, etc...
    • is in the process of being ported to linux

• Veritas (VxVM)

  • used on HPUX and solaris, extremely robust

• Sun Solstice

  • uses concept of "meta slices", not as robust as VxVM or LVM (sorry Andy)
